3SG Dino Kong joined the 40th Battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment on 25th January 2007 and ORD on the 18th July 2008 after 2 years of active national service. In his 2 yrs of service, he was appointed as the HQ resource management IC. His effortless contribution in many areas had strengthened the logistics processes within the battalion.
Some of his many notable contributions include his implementation of the 40th battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment company quarter master sergeant standard operation procedure (CQMS SOP), the unit's logistic SOP. His initiative in documenting the processes has been a great benefit for every individual dealing with logistics issues
He was also actively involved in the preparation for both the integrated audit inspection wy07/08 and commercial stocktaking wy07.08, in which the unit achieved the highest
Possible rating of "excellent'
Despite his heavy workload, 3SG Dino Kong still finds time to help out in battalion matters that fall outside his usual job scope. For instance, he was a sporting member of the organizing committee for the battalion’s 38th Unit Anniversary 2006. Being appointed as the games 2IC, he went beyond his call of duty to assist with the management of funds and draft the administrative instructions for the chairman of the committee, thus making the event a big success.
In addition to his various contributions in peacetime events and daily routine works, he also selflessly volunteered to support the unit to assist with the umpiring of 46th Battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment Army Training Evaluation Centre (ATEC) Stage 2 evaluation where he spent a 4 days in the field. Immediately after the last day of umpiring, he volunteered to assist Archer Company as their stand-in CQMS for their 6D5N field camp at Palau Tekong.
Recognizing his ability to manage any task assigned to him, he was hand-picked to support school of logistics for exercise starlight and highnoon 2008. This exercise was a one month exercise from April 08 to May 08, in the republic of china.
In addition to the above contributions, 3SG Dino Kong had also been an active athlete who represented 40th Battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment in the Tiger Trail 2007, and did the battalion proud when their team came in 2nd runner up. He also represented 3rd Division for the Army Half Marathon 2007, as well as ran the Armour Road Relay 2007. Despite being under logistics, a non-combat vocation, he proved himself to be just as fit, if not fitter, and made all the ‘logistic-ians’ proud.
3sg Dino Kong is someone who cares deeply for his peers and treats everyone with sincerity that is sadly rare among people these days. As an encouraging leader, he motivated PTE Chia Jun Jie, a store-man to take up the challenge of being a CQMS and had influenced many storeman to change their mentality about their medical conditions.
In his short but significant stay in 40th Battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment, 3SG Dino Kong proved himself to be a meticulous, diligent and respectable individual who has great leadership qualities and abilities to execute any task assigned without any supervision. As a team player, people-orientated leader and with the unlimited capacity of efficiency, he is well-like by everyone around him.
3SG Dino Kong is most certainly to succeed his future endeavours, and prove himself to be just as valuable as an asset to whichever organization he is part of. His positive attitude towards National Service, his high efficiency and active involvements in various activities distinguishes 3SG Dino Kong from other soldiers serving NS these days.
