It has been about a month since i last update my blog due to the hectic schedule i have in the army. Well, i am back again with a lot of issue to address.
Think my intakes (PTP and BMT) going to POP soon. We together been together the taxing training programme together - IMT, Range, Out-Field @ Tekong. Now counting down they are only left with SOC, IPPT and Road March.
Looking back since the date they enlisted till now; many of them pretty much bonded. Well, i too get bonded with some of them - mainly from P9 and P10. Why no P11 and P12 - well don't question me. I also don't know.
There's something i want to highlight. Most of them now know that CPT Sima is my S4 since April and she keep wanting me to go HQ to under her (currently i am in 'C coy as CQMS). Everything she will assign me to do and i guess because of that my OC is unhappy. Guess what that time he asked me whether i wan go HQ - that time RQ told me S4 and him had a long talk about me. If my answer that time to him is
YES.
There are currently 2 possibilities - 1st he let me go or 2nd he don't let me torture me like no one business. Well, i think he also more or less know the answer - during the out-field it is a pretty good experience (the 2nd possibility happened). There's nothing pretty much that i can do but only to suck thumb.
I really had
ENOUGH of those already soon or later i think i will .... Well, decided on my mind set right now. In company line, i will only do what a CQMS should do and i never do EXTRA anymore BUT if S4 wants me to do something (example - A and B) i will definitely do combo ~ A + B + C + D.
Next moving on to the
AHM training. I only went there for 2 trainings in total because their training falls on every friday and all those friday i am tied down with my company training program be it out-field, range, etc.
From a total of
69 runners the team manager (1WO Teo from 20SA) cut down to
30 only. Gald that i am selected in the team but runnning as non-competitive. But i don't know what to say. They only send in a total of
2 competitive team and the other 1 team is non-competitive. It look so demoralizing wearing the 3rd div jersey yet running non-competitive. Why can't they spent a bit more money to send in a total of 3 teams? Sigh.
Saturday is a day that is supposed from all NSF to enjoy but i eventually booked in to 20 SA by 7pm to stay in there. Well, from the gate to 20 SA GYM is about 25 minutes walk. We slept at the GYM and woke up at 2:15am. We reached the race ground at 3:30am. That's super
EARLY. Crazy Man!!!!
What we did there was to collect the numbe tag, the 3rd Div jersey, understand the route and of course to SLEEP.

And finally here it comes the Army Half Marathon 2007. A brand new experience - Marine Bay.
Start Point: Esplanade Drive
End Point: Marina Promenade (NDP Floating Platform)Quick Sharing of the Singapore Bay Run:Over the past 15 years, SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run & Army Half Marathon has evolved to become the largest mass run event on Singapore’s sports calendar. It is the only running event that brings runners across the magnificent Benjamin Sheares Bridge, overseeing the Singapore skyline.
The first SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run (SSBR) took place in 1992 as part of SAFRA’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Its aims are to encourage adoption of healthy lifestyle and cohesion building amongst NSmen. The first SSBR drew 14,000 participants.
The start point of SSBR was moved from East Coast Park to Marina Bay to accommodate increased participation the very next year. The number of participants rose to 25,000 from the year before. For the first time in Singapore, there was a bungee jump demonstration at Marina Promenade, the end point of SSBR.
In 1997, a special 500m Kids' Walk-a-Jog was introduced and a total of $25,000 was raised for the Children's Charities Association of Singapore.
1998 saw the merger of SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run and Army Half Marathon as one event. The end-point was moved to the Padang, with the splendid Supreme Court served as the backdrop. The collective resources established SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run & Army Half Marathon as the largest running event in Singapore.
SSBR & AHM hit a new high in 2000 with some 60,000 participants taking part in the event. In conjunction with the NSmen Charity Drive, $2 from each participant’s registration fees contributed towards the $1 million raised for the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled (MINDS) and the Spastic Children's Association of Singapore (SCAS).
The 12th SSBR&AHM in 2003 took participants past major landmarks such as the Esplanade and Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City. Guest-of-Honour, His Excellency, S.R. Nathan, President of the Republic of Singapore, joined thousand of others in the 5km Fun Run.
This year, this event is re-positioned as the Singapore Bay Run – SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run & Army Half Marathon, to reflect the Marina Bay flavour as participants run through iconic landmarks, such as the Esplanade.
Route:
I am dissapointed with my personal performance. During the stretch at ECP i actually stop for about
15 minutes to go toilet to
SHIT. I can't hold it any more - i wanted to shit before the race but was standing at the starting point crowded by runners.
Further more, guess what i am having before the AHM - Out-field at Pulau Tekong for 5 days 4 nights. Yet booking in to 20 SA sleeping so so early...
Medal
After the run, i met up with my STC coursemate -
Brendon (he representing 24sA), STC mates, instructors -
MAJ Halimi, 2WO Kumar, 1SG Ranjit and Sheikh. We chat and joke and laugh together. I am so happy to meet up with them.
Before we left the holding area, we took a picture of all from 3rd Div. I will try to source for the pictures and find a way to upload. Stay tuned!
It was a pretty interesting and memorable day!
I shall now be more motivated to train hard and more for the coming standard chartered singapore marathon.
